I Love Being a Mama!

Hallie is my 3 year old who she thinks she is bigger than me. She told me a story the other day about when she was Nama's age (her Grandma).
She said, "You know, Mama, I haven't been a little girl all the time, you know." And then proceeded to tell me when she was Nama's age she "worked roadwork." Now that thought occurred because we have ongoing roadwork on the interstate and this has caught the interest of both of my children.

Hallie not only "worked roadwork" while she was Nama's age, but she's "cooked in the kitchen" as well. And because of her previous experience she believes she knows how to cook. And so I decided to test her expertise. It was time for the spaghetti dinner again,a perfect time to see if my little girl cooks like she says she can.
She donned her apron while I finished draining the cooked meat. Her first job was to pour water into a pan so we could cook the noodles. Well...her definition of pour is quite different than mine, so we ended up mopping up some of the water. This had nothing to do with her expertise mind you, it had everything to do with the way I said it(that was a discovery I made on my own). 
So...she broke the spaghetti into the pan; the broom had a come out afterwards, but it could have been worse. At least we had most of the spaghetti noodles in the pan.

Our recipe for spaghetti actually came from Honduras, where my husband is from. It is very simple: cooked meat, cooked spaghetti noodles, onions, garlic, bell pepper, salt, oregano, ketchup and water all together in a pan and cooked on low heat until the flavors blend. Simple right? This sounds like it should only take 30 minutes, right?

An hour later we sat down to our spaghetti dinner. Hallie had done a pretty good job. The only thing, I really don't care for 2 inch pieces of bell pepper in my spaghetti. No, there's one more thing: she doesn't clean up the kitchen after she gets done. UGH! I'm tired of seeing ketchup! And could someone pass me the broom... again.

Just gettin' started

Okay! So, I've never blogged before and this feels kinda weird putting my thoughts out here where whoever can see them. I am more of a free writer in my private journals and that might be what I'll do here.

I am married and I love it!!! My marriage is unique - which I'll get into in a later post. For now, I have a GREAT marriage; not perfect, but great.

I am employed in the highest calling of humankind: Motherhood. My two angels are precious and keep my life full, busy and interesting.

I am a couponer. I got into using coupons when we had less than $30.00/week to spend for groceries while I was pregnant with my first child. I knew there had to be a way to get more food for my money. Although I've been couponing for over 3 years, I am by no means an expert. But it is my hobby and my family benefits greatly from it.

I am a candle distributor. Now that is something new in my life. I just signed up to sell candles and anti-aging skin care treatment. I think I am really going to love doing it. By the way, as soon as I figure out how to post a link on here, I'll have a link to my web site.

Well, talking about who I am... my husband just arrived home from work and wants his supper. So, for right now I am going to play the role of Chef, Server, and Bus Girl.
